Practical Gardening Skills

Continue your gardening journey with this workshop designed to help you focus on important seasonal tasks in your garden.  This workshop is open to all and is also a good follow on for those who have completed ‘Gardening from Scratch – the Basics’.

We will give you the tools to plan and further develop your garden.  We delve deeper into methods of analysing your site so that you have a greater understanding of how to create beautiful garden spaces that will grow and flourish.

We will look at at various ways to buy new plants and move ones that you have identified as needing a new place to grow.  We start to think about combining plants to create beautiful designs.  We will ensure you have the right techniques to prepare the soil and the planting hole, which will encourage these plants to grow happily and healthily.

We will look at basic propagation methods, appropriate to the time of year, so that you can successfully add to your garden plant collection in a very economical and sustainable way.

Finally, we will think about all other tasks that might be appropriate for the time of year such as staking and pruning.

These very practical sessions will encourage students to work well in a group and enjoy the friendly nature of our workshops.
